Opting to bat at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Pakistan set the platform for a big score through an outstanding century from opener Sahibzada Farhan who blistered an unbeaten 100 off 58 balls which was studded with 11 fours and four sixes. Farhan’s innings was supported by captain Salman Agha who made 38 (33 balls, 3×4, 1×6) and all-rounder Shadab Khan whose unbeaten knock of 36 came off only 22 deliveries. The hosts notched up a stiff target for Namibia when they declared their innings at 199/3 in 20 overs.

Bowlers Crush Namibia to Secure 102-Run Victory
Namibia’s reply never got momentum. Pakistan’s spinners and mystery bowlers took over after an opening stand of 32. T20 World Cup Usman Tariq was the star with 4/16 and Shadab Khan grabbed 3/19 to demolish the Namibian batting line-up. Namibia were bundled out for 97 in 17.3 overs, delivering Pakistan a massive 102-run victory – their largest of the tournament so far.
How Pakistan Reached Super 8 Stage from Group A
This win, not only to get their spirits up after a loss in the group stage to India and enter the Super 8 as the 8th and last team from pool play. With six points from four games — which also included victories against the Netherlands, USA and now Namibia, Pakistan are second in Group A on points with India but placed behind them as they topped the group without losing a match.
Pakistan’s path to the Super 8 was not an effortless one, characterised by patchiness and a defeat against arch-rivals India. But a clinical display in their must-win game against Namibia showed that at least they rediscovered some resilience and unity at an important time. Once Farhan hit his ton and Pakistan got to close-to-200, they never looked back as both bat and ball clicked in unison.

Now to the remaining stages of the T20 World Cup, as Pakistan has qualified for the super 8 stage, their fans look forward to some competitive matches which will no doubt be a hard fought battle in the next phase of this competition.
