Confident in display, FC Goa registered the FC Goa first win ISL 2025-26 season with a comfortable 2–0 over Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Kishore Bharti Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday.
It didn’t take long before the Gaurs asserted their dominance. Defender Pol Moreno put his side ahead in only the fourth minute, as the unmarked number four thumped home a bullet of a header from an inviting corner. The early goal left Mohammedan playing catch-up and it proved to be another of those nights for the team.
The Gaurs made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, this time Dejan Dražić sent Linfa Perez packing and slotted home from the spot to give his team a comfortable lead at the stroke of half-time resulting FC Goa first win ISL 2025-26 season. Moreno’s superior play in defence and his game-opening goal allowed him to claim Player of the Match honours.
Mohammedan Sporting did not even have a clear shot at goal and they are yet to open their account in two matches. On the other hand, Goa commanded possession and controlled proceedings for most part of the match to prove that they were a better side in every aspect.
The draw, however, took FC Goa temporarily to 4 points from 2 games and served as a vital early fuel in an Indian Super League ladder.
The Gaurs would want to get the momentum going and keep the performances up, while Mohammedan Sporting has a task in hand to hit back after yesterday’s loss.
