The Anthony Edwards show was on full display as the Minnesota Timberwolves were able to walk away with an impressive 122-111 win in their most recent Timberwolves vs Mavericks meeting on Friday night at Target Center in Minneapolis. Edwards scored 40 points and led Minnesota to a victory, opposing Dallas’ inability to stop their skid, which is now at 10 games — the longest for the Mavericks in 24 years.
Minnesota opened with a flourish, taking a 40–25 lead into the second quarter and leading most of the way. Dallas made a brief push for the lead, tying the game at 103 with just over four minutes left in regulation, but Edwards scored two straight buckets to give the hosts some breathing room.
Edwards was complemented by Rudy Gobert, who had a strong double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds, and Naz Reid’s 21 points from the bench to ensure the surge remained very much on for Minnesota.
Khris Middleton scored 18 points to lead Dallas, but defensive problems and another slow start doomed the skid. The Mavericks have lost every game since late January and are on their longest losing streak since 1998.
The result solidifies Minnesota’s surge in the Western Conference standings, while Dallas continues to slump with the pressure mounting to put a damper on its slide. If the Timberwolves vs Mavericks game proved one thing it’s that Edwards is one of the league’s top closers when put to do so.
